Nr. 931: Veue generale..

Bird’s eye view in original colour

“Veue generale de Fontaine-bleau”. General view in bird’s eye perspective of the castle and the park with extensive key in bottom margin. In the foreground a high ranking personality on horseback (the King?) with his entourage. Etching, fully coloured by a contemporary hand, by Cornelis Danckerts, published by Justus Danckerts, Amsterdam c. 1680. (PM) 41,2 x 50 cm.

An impressive depiction. Even more impressive by the shining old colour! – Full impression of the plate with original white margins. Brilliant contemporary colour! Slight toning of paper. Few creases smoothened, minor imperfections in margin mended. A most desirable example of this rare print.
